Wow, great review from Nathan (Wasser-Prawda)! So glad with this. Some feedback! He (Nathan Nörgel) knows his way with words and you have to read carefully to fully understand the german symbolic meanings he gives of various songs. So I'll give you a "not so perfect" translation after. If you understand it, tell me! If you don't, well I can try to explain!
"I Mimic Me" Review in Wasser-Prada
Original:
Was unwahrscheinlich schade ist.
(bandcamp)
On his tenth so far (as always purely digitally published) album, the Dutch songwriter Joos TVD aka The Vanished Dutchman remains: unlikely entertaining. Musically, he explored on 'I Mimic Me' pretty much every territory between rock, fusion jazz, pop and even blues. With blues, this multi-instrumentalist has actually not so. The more surprised I was when I discovered a title called Ballroom Blues on the tracklist of the new album. But who is now waiting for the holy twelve bars knows Joos TVD bad. Because the piece on futile attempts to be perceived as someone else's first rock, between it breaks up briefly in swinging Jazzgefilde. And overall, this is again a melancholic and humorous song, like him nowadays perhaps Zappa could have written. The beginning of 'I Mimic Me' had me as musically surprised even more. For songs like 'Cowboy On The Moon' or 'Velvet Shoes' pearls initially elegant as the jazzy pop of Steely Dan.
What I notice is the melancholy of the songs that is often adjusted only slightly from the music. Here - and brings us to the title of the album - the artist tries to imitate himself as a child. And of course, this is doomed to failure. What is unlikely shame. Because as an adult you are with all the effort often no more than a 'Cowboy On The Moon', so completely the wrong place, one commits suicide relentlessly social, if you do not care about the rules.
Even the relationships threaten to fail in such banalities that even he loves his cat, while the partner is fond of her dog and the two animals get along like pigs and frogs. So like the proverbial dog and cat.
'I Mimic Me' - a great album musically and also from the lyrics here. And even if mimicking the music here all the topic according to the style of the last few decades, that is, by no means, that the pieces of Joost van Dinther would not be extremely orginal. (Bandcamp)
(Bandcamp)

25 november 2013 Stupid Song(s) [Starts: 36:33] on The BBC Introducing Mixtape
https://www.facebook.com/JoosTVDmusic
The last tune we heard from JoosTVD on the Introducing Mixtape was Bomb Won´t Go Off in November 2012. His hard-to-pronounce artist name makes more sense once you realise it stands for Joost The Vanished Dutchman. “Maybe” he confides “it’ s best pronounced like this: Juiced?” Inspired by the likes of Zappa, Todd Rundgren, Miles Davis, Steve Winwood, John Martyn and many others, Joost Van Dinther (JOOSTVD, geddit?) started out as a drummer before turning his hand to writing. This perhaps explains the unerring feel for a killer groove which – together with a well-developed sense of fun – it the trademark of his work. Although most of the recordings are played and produced by Joost on his own, he loves to play live with a band and “give it all” on stage. His latest album, The Ballooning Brouhaha was released in June 2013 and he’s already busy with a followup bunch of tunes coming up in 2014 with distribution by Routenote.

18 juni 2013, Review in Wasser-Prawda (german) of The Ballooning Brouhaha,
By Nathan Norgel, Bluespfaffe
„Don‘t mind the blues“ meint Joos The Vanished Dutchman in einem Titel seines neuen Albums.
In English (google-translator):
"Do not mind the blues," said Joos The Vanished Dutchman in a title of his new album. Hardcore blues fans should take that as a serious warning and exercise with reading the review and listening to the disc extreme caution. Otherwise: With "The Ballooning Brouhaha" the Dutch one-man band music really match the beginning of the summer with jazz, funk grooves, rock and a good dose of humor.
One rests in ballooning? Riotous balloons? Or the outrage over the balloon athlete? With the album title, I commer to the limits of my knowledge of English. But the title track and opener of the new album by Joost Van Dinther told musically (apart from the few "haha"-Call) is a story that could be all that - or something completely different. And already we are in the problem, which he automatically when you listen to this song Dutchman: Man I need help laughing. And you get caught again and again going to want to use the word "zappaesk".
It could also find some affinity to the music of Steely Dan, the middle period of Stevie Wonder and others. Only just were never so full of humor, sarcasm - and self-irony. Who calls a title already voluntarily "Stupid song (s)", which then comes as quite silly for the world tour by Ralf Soegel written directly on the Casio and then beefed up even with horns? This is simply zappaesk. And of course, great. .
Then follows a "disco Scream From The Sinking Loveboat", a tour with the "Sunday Train" or a trip through a silent jungle. Most humorous, often suddenly clouded by a melancholy that is the same again attentively listens to determine: Joost is a damn good song writer and not changing comedy attraction. And also that he has in common with the late guitar master and composition with the famous Klofoto (Zappa). If you do not believe me, should look at various online platforms such as Jamendo for the free download of "The Ballooning Brouhaha" and disagree with me afterwards.
23 November 2012 Bomb Won't Go Off on Introducing Mixtape by Tom Robinson*,
Joost The Vanished Dutchman is, as you might have guessed, from The Netherlands. Inspired by the likes of Gino Vannelli, Todd Rundgren, Miles Davis, Boz Scaggs, John Martyn, Sting, Terry Callier, he started out as a drummer before turning his hand to writing. His latest album, Art Decoy The Bluebeard Boy, was released in September, and he describes himself as a "zelfbevlekkende, narcistische, selfkickende, obsessieve, uitknijpende liedjesmaker" which loosely translates (I think) as a "self-denigrating, narcissistic, self-flagellating squeezer-out of songs"...Tom Robinson in his announcement on BBC radio 6. 4 oktober 2012 Review in Wasser- Prawda of Art Decoy The Bluebeard Boy,
By Nathan Norgel, Bluespfaffe
English:
Joos TVD from the Netherlands is the "water-Pravda" a worthy successor to the musical genius Frank Zappa. On his latest album, "The Art Decoy Blue Beard Boy" the one-man band delivers again a mixture of jazz-funk, pop-rock and humor.
Somewhere there was once, in a column that is not entirely flippant remark meant that life without a new book by Robert Gernhard is much harder to bear. The same could also write about really humorous and at the same time intelligent pop and rock music. And since Frank Zappa no longer available for musically satisfying and humorous at the same albums, one must always keep attention on the lookout here. Joos The Vanished Dutchman has in recent years to convince me again and again. And if "type Decoy The Blue Beard Boy" with "Drool All Over You" gets going, it's clear: Here again a perfect party album was created in the home studio: funk-jazz grooves, and occasionally a few incisive guitar lines and songs who sing not only on frogs to drug taking but also all the hysteria, Facebook and the likes to make fun or love ballads to beat at all schmaltzy. The "Occupy" movement, annoying friends and other topics will be rotated by the radio mixer and thrown onto the floor, where they do splendidly. Conclusion: Be sure to download and shake up the next dance party with it! Even as kostenfreihes Christmas album is worth a recommendation.
24 september 2011 Review in Wasser- Prawda of Orson Nietes,
By Nathan Norgel, Bluespfaffe

Reviews from the listeners from Jamendo, music platform about "Orson Nietes":
Carybe, Portugal :
You know what?... funk yourself.
25/08/11
Let me tell you... music, is a very serious thing... right?... but, there's nothing in the book that says it can't be fun... or even funny. In fact, I believe that it even benefits a whole lot, when musicians are having fun while doing it. And to those who may be inclined to think that "playing with music" is just a subterfuge, think better... remember, before you can even think about making whatever stunts, the simplest they may appear to be, you have necessarily to learn a lot of other basic stuff... and there are no shortcuts. Sure this album, transpires a lot of fun... but it breathes quality and know how all over. It's... an extended, but overall gratifying... funky based production, leaded by an excellent performer, with a voice full of personality and a full bodied singing, replete of irony and good spirit. The music is quite addictive and sounds generally super well... and if at this point and by any chance, you still have at least, the slightest temptation, of thinking that this funky stuff ain't serious music, then... most probably... you are in a desperate need situation, of being funked... and funked real good.
Communication is, in fact, a complicated thing... words, sometimes, develop such strong roots in some rough ground, that pull out some other possible meanings and applications or even associations, can be a very hard task... so it happens within the world of music, necessarily as a communication vehicle. I'm convinced that, quite often, the most effective way to mark and transmit a serious point of view, is to joke with and about it, for instance.
However, this basically sums it up.
Thanks for the music... and stay well.

Absolutely Satyrical!
08/09/11 It has been a long time since anyone has taken potshots at the events of the world, and all the little things that happen within a persons day. JoosTVD has picked up, somewhat, where Frank Zappa left off. Perhaps not with the music end, but lyrical content is a definate hoot! My favorites are Alice Tea and Tweet. I like the change from past efforts!
starkil3r Gutes Album 12/09/11 I am always sorry for the artists that you can't buy their albums in a store. You can find a lot of albums here which are much better tham some of the albums you can buy.
This album is one of them.
I am really sorry that there is a lack of good taste in this society today.
But keep on making good music. I love it and I am glad that i found jamendo.com
I always find albums or songs that entertain me more than Lady Gaga or the whole mainstream music.
joeskop Buono 14/09/11 Fine album, fine songs, fine arraments, fine players... Also fine lyrics.
So what's wrong? Nothing, except that the Vanished Dutchman is just here (ok this is a fine place!), and Ricky Martin, Lady Gaga and RWilliams are everywhere.
Thanks again.

Aufklarung
In tempi ormai lontani ho studiato Francese.
(and this is granted at least in music, if it seems impossible in the social field. Here there's plenty of fantasy, along with a humor that exudes from your notes.
In days gone by I studied French. The English do not chew on anything and it's a shame, because I imagine that for irony and fantasy texts should keep the same pace of the music)

Very cool album indeed.
27/09/11 Orson Nietes is an album filled with perkiness and funky peppiness. JoosTVD clearly shows innovative approaches to music and the anarchic madness of this album actually portrays a great cohesive piece of work. It is a wonderfully inventive "popourri" of tongue-in-cheek medleys and a delight to the ears.

Here is a latin-jazz-style very refined, very nice, very good for both the listening to the dance. It is an inspired work, which involves you emotionally, as it is based on the atmosphere of the mold a little 'retro, that you magically back in time and make you dream.
Beautiful voice warm and full of feeling that fits the feel of the songs and listen with great pleasure. Great groove for this artist, who definitely deserves more recognition and more plays!

Where ever these guys are playing a live show. I am coming, hold me a seat in the front row please.Why... as by god.. From what I have just heard.... They are exceptional, talented and amazing, artists in general, exciting, smooth and so awesomely entertaining. In everything.. that I have just heard, from them. From, jazzy, blues, funky, rhythm and blues tracks. As Wow... I was truly impressed by the seduction quality and pure blissful atmospheres and flavours and great upbeat, charismatic, styles, that simply rolled from within these guys as they played to perfection. Let alone the singer sang with that deeply, fascinating, bewitching, outstandingly gorgeously, strong, sexy stimulating voice of his. Turn that dial up and simply savour, relax and enjoy. And also not forgetting to say this as a favourite in general. As theses guys are going to be big on Jamendo for sure.

I know i am bias, and a great fan of his stuff in general. When it comes to this guy and his music. Because I know a top class musician and composer when it comes to his style and type of musical expression in general. When I hear it and truly feel it within my heart and soul. And this guys music, just gets better and better. Each and every single time. I check out one of his albums. I just submerge myself totally into it and bathe in glory after glory of a great time had..Makes sun shine and good times come true. And entertains me to the max.

Zwischen Funkjazz und Latin mit guter Laune
07/10/10
Also bräuchte The Vanished Dutchman eigentlich gar keine Genre-Bezeichnung.
